About Me, Christopher F. Schuster

Hello there!

I am a molecular microbiologist with knowledge in bioinformatics, sequencing, biochemistry and cell biology. Stay connected I am interested in molecular processes in bacteria, especially regarding antibiotic resistances, regulation and signaling. In addition, I have a strong interest in scientific visualization and scientific art.

I studied general biology at Tübingen University, Germany and Oregon State University, USA, but specialized in microbiology with minors in biochemistry and eukaryotic cell biology. I received my PhD from Tübingen University, Germany (group of Microbial Genetics Department with Prof. Fritz Götz/PD Dr. Ralph Bertram). I then worked for five years as a postdoctoral researcher and research fellow at Imperial College in London, U.K. (group of Prof. Angelika Gründling). After that, I was a scientist in the Unit 13: Nosocomial Pathogens and Antibiotic Resistances group at the Robert Koch Institute in Wernigerode, Germany where I did research on nosocomial pathogens.

Currently, I am at the ZEPAI in Langen, Germany working on pandemic preparedness.
